A series of events to commemorate our 1st anniversary – 2nd & 3rd of August 2013
Day 1 – We began the opening ceremony with the lighting of the lamp and short speeches by Dr. Sampath Kumar, Associate Dean of KMC Manipal and members of the Committee- Dr. Vikas Sud (Honorary Advisor) and Apoorv Tangri (President). This was followed by a thoroughly entertaining and informative lecture by Dr. Benjamin Joseph, an orthopedic surgeon at Kasturba Hospital. It was attended by 60 of our student members as well as several members of the advisory board. An interactive workshop on Field Trauma Management conducted after the lecture, was attended by approximately 120 members. Day 1 of ‘Chirurgia’ ended with the preliminary round of the Surgery Quiz which saw 12 teams competing for their selection to the finals
Day 2 – 3rd August: Commenced with a video talk on laparoscopic surgery by Dr. Ramachandra, Professor and HOU of General Surgery at KMC Manipal. A suture marathon was conducted following this, with a total of 30 participants, 4 rounds and several tie-breakers. Participants were judged based on their technique, precision and speed. The final round of the marathon was judged by Dr. Sampath Kumar. We ended our fest with the final round of the Surgery quiz, consisting of the top 6 teams from the previous day. The winners of the suture marathon and quiz were awarded with prizes and certificates
